NYC Elopement

I’ve been really looking forward to sharing this elopement with you.  It is one of my all time favorite weddings.  It comes to no surprise that we love weddings.  Each weddings is so different from the next.  Each couple is different from every other.  Weddings come in all sizes, all colors, and all genders. I love that.

You may recognize Yana and Chita.  This was not their first wedding, but their second wedding.  To each other.  The first time they got married at Trust in Philadelphia on Friday, April 13th, 2012.  They had a big, colorful, emotional wedding.  This time (on Friday, December, 13th) , it was just us and just them, in New York City.  I’ve always wanted to be a witness at an elopement.  They made that happen!  This wedding was just as emotional, the love for each other still pouring out of them.  Marriage equality is something that Michael and I proudly stand behind.  It means the world to us that we had this opportunity to stand by them and document their love for a second time.

Yana and Chita, when you ladies are old and gray and still very much in love.  I hope you can look back on these pictures and remember how lucky you both are to have found each other.  We are so lucky to have you as friends!  {Okay, I need to stop…I feel my eyes watering up}

Enjoy!

This was really sweet.  This is a picture of them on their first vacation together December 13th, 2007 (their first date was on April 13th, 2007..they got married the first time on April 13th 2012).  We asked them about the story in this picture and this was Archita’s response.

“It was our first vacation together – we were both learning how to ski for the first time. In 2007 on the ski lift we were talking about our future together and it seemed impossible. MA was the only state that had gay marriage, states everywhere were passing constitutional bans. Our families weren’t totally happy about us yet, our future seemed so uncertain and I remember sitting on the ski lift and looking at each other and feeling so hopeless. So for us to be in SUCH a different place 6 short years later, that was incredible for me”.
