As things wind down for us in the year I’ve been reflecting on not just the year, but everything. We’ve been incredibly blessed this year to have traveled a lot, set a date and to start planning for our 10yr anniversary vow renewal (Italy!), launch a new company, acquire another, hired our first employee (she’s wonderful!), and to all be happy and healthy.
Ava & Bella have been such a joy to see grow this year. They’ve both become more confident and even funnier. I love that they bust my chops! We also taught them curse words this year which was.. well..strange, haha. We want them to recognize curse words when they are heard and what they mean rather than not understand their meaning and just repeat the words. Looking forward to getting cursed out thoughtfully when they’re teenagers. Haha. They’ve worked hard at school and improved their grades. Not that thats the most important thing. This comes from a guy who almost failed art school, haha. Thats another blog post though.
We’ve spent some time this year “parenting” about work and life. We still talk often about being happy and fulfilled vs feeling like they have to do this or that. Having been in jobs that didn’t fulfill me I don’t wish that on anyone. Having taken some serious risks in our lives and the results of that, I do wish that on everyone. We were going through old school papers yesterday and found one where Ava had to talk about what she wanted to be when she grew up. Now, for those who know her well enough, she’s always wanted to be a butterfly doctor. Adorable, I know! And she did write that but before that she wrote, happy. I ask them often what they want to be when they grow up and the first answer is always happy. Life’s too short, as I’m sure we’re all aware of, to waste it doing things that don’t make you happy. I look forward to talking with them about having purpose, intentional living, and goals in 2018.
From myself and my three lovely ladies, we wish you a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
