Rain on the day of your backyard wedding….a bride’s worst nightmare, right?  An ultimate disappointment for most.   It happens, but should the fear of that happening scare you away completely from having a backyard wedding?  Heck no!  Why you ask?  This is a perfect situation where the saying “when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade” applies.  We would never wish wedding day stress on any bride…but where weather is concerned, we look at it as an opportunity that most do not get.   We look at those rainy weddings as a unique opportunity to create something magical, something you could never get otherwise.

From all the weddings we’ve done…I can’t remember rain ever “ruining” one single wedding.  We’ve shot in blizzards, we’ve shot in hurricanes, and completely washed out days.  We’ve even shot in crazy thunderstorms.  From all of those weddings, as most would say, we were given a crappy shooting situation.  We however, do not see it like that.  We were able to create some really amazing shots at each of those weddings, that we couldn’t dream of getting on a regular sunny day.  Don’t get me wrong, we love sun too….we just happen to love all of it.  There is beauty in everything.

I know how much work Trista and her family put into this wedding.  This was a true DIY backyard wedding.  A total Pinterest Wedding!  The grounds were absolutely breathtaking.  Trista is a grade school friend that I grew up with.  I’m proud to say this wedding was shot on her family’s farm, in the town I grew up in.  The rain, the gloomy weather, the fog….it just added dramatic effect!

Riding in the back of this truck was such a high….that combined with the fact that I was trying my hardest to not fall off the back and in the process, trying to get a good shot.  Tricky tricky!

UHHHH-MAZING!

The ceremony space was epic!  Trista’s dad built this damn years ago when they bought the farm.  I bet he knew then that his daughter would be using the space for her wedding ;0)

Weird, right?  At this point it started raining, so we improvised.  We liked it!

Dan & Trista are both dentists.  How did they meet?  Interesting story actually….they met while attending dental school at temple.   They were performing a wisdom tooth extraction.  Dan got a little distracted (let’s just say by looking at her).  Next thing you know, Trista has a bloody suction cup stuck to her hair.  Dan’s response “yeah, you’re going to want to wash your hair when you get home”.   Romantic, huh?!  After that, the rest is pretty much history…Love at first tooth extraction!

The shots below are the night portraits we did of them….they give me the good kind of chills!

I told you guys, it was going to be perfect and if you think it was less than perfect….you’re CRAZY! 🙂  Minor bumps and all!  Totally. Worth. It!  Enjoy Greece!
