Blog: Bellies & Babies

The Dietrich family visits Philadelphia

We had the wonderful opportunity of spending a little time with this adorable little family.   I first met Christine and Jason 5 or so years ago, while we were all living in Philadelphia.  Since then, we all got married, had some kids, Michael and I moved to the burbs and they moved to San Francisco (right around the corner, haha).     However, we’re still friends on facebook (of course) and I’m excited we got to meet Jakob in person.   He’s a handsome little man and I can see how much joy he brings to their lives.  It’s amazing what an impact a baby can have on someones heart :)

Jason & Christine, thanks for thinking of us during your visit!  We’ll be sure to venture to the west coast again soon :)

Seriously, how cute are they together?

haha.  What a little stud muffin!

The Monks really have nothing to do with this shoot, but we found them interesting as with everything else you may encounter in Philadelphia ;0)

Owen

Sometimes in our job we get to photograph little babies.  We are not Anne Geddes, nor do we try to be.  Our approach with babies is to document the baby in their first few days.  Whether they are sleeping perfectly, wide awake and aware, or even sometimes crying (they’re babies…it happens).

We also love when we get the opportunity to document a family and their first child.  Not that there is not love for any child born after that, haha, obviously there is just as much love.  What I mean is, most first parents are always much more detailed when it comes to their first child (accurately writing down each oz. the baby is given at what time of day, each dirty diaper, each wet diaper, nap times, etc).  It’s a new chapter in 2 peoples lives.  They are walking on new territory and figuring it out.  I know how Michael and I were when we first had the girls.  I love seeing that in new parents too :)

Below are images of Owen.  I absolutely adore this family and their laid back personalities.  It was such a pleasure photographing them in their home.  This little guy has no idea how much he is loved :)

Enjoy!

Just what the world needs…..another McManus baby!

This world could use another McManus baby!  Not ours though (FYI)!

For those of you that know us, you know that Michael’s family is huge, to say the least.  He is one of 13 and of those 13, all have had kids but 5.  Nanny McManus now has a total of 19 grandchildren (give or take a few…it’s easy to lose track).  Can you tell this family loves babies? haha!

Who’s expecting this time?  My sister in- law, Becky.  She’ll be a first time momma in March!    I’m so excited for them!

The baby shower decor was ridiculously cute.  I know her and Megan (another sister)…(and Jim, haha) put a lot of time and effort into the shower.

What do you think about this nursery?  Where is the Love button??!

Yummy pretzel treats thanks to sister Jen!

The McManus sisters (all of them) manage to stay gorgeous and adorable even during the last month of pregnancy!  The girls actually think Aunt Becky looks so pretty that I overheard them playing a few days ago where Bella was pretending to be Becky (and pregnant).  She had a pillow stuffed in her shirt.  I’m not gonna lie, KINDA freaked me out a bit!  Thanks Becky!

Besides taking some pictures, this was my contribution.  I posted them because I’m actually happy with how they turned out and a little surprised with my ability to make them look decent and edible, haha.  I love doing things like this.

I thought this was cute and I wish more of us would follow by it.  The world would be a much better place :)

Well, that’s just a little smidgebit of the baby shower.  Congrats Becky and Jim!  We couldn’t be more happy for you.  We absolutely cannot wait to meet Ellie!

Happy Thursday!
